About Craft With Aunty Em

Who is Aunty Em?

Hi, I’m Emma — or as the kids call me, Aunty Em! The idea for Craft with Aunty Em grew out of simple, joyful afternoons spent with my niece Harper. After school we’d relax together, exploring different types of craft with no pressure — just freedom to create, laugh, and enjoy the process. That time inspired me to share the magic of creativity with more children across Brisbane. I’ve always had a passion for working with kids. Over the years I’ve been a qualified teacher’s aide, a nanny and babysitter, and worked in a children’s club.

For more than 10 years I also volunteered with the Mater Starlight Children’s Foundation. Wherever I’ve been, one thing has stayed constant: my love of sharing art and craft, and seeing children discover their own creativity. As a neurodivergent person, I know how powerful art can be for calming the mind, boosting confidence, and providing a safe way to express yourself. That’s why Craft with Aunty Em is proudly inclusive, patient, and neuro-affirming. My favourite colours are pink and purple, and I especially love beading activities — but what I love most is watching kids proudly take home their unique creations, knowing they’ve tried something new and had fun doing it.

FAQ

What age group are the workshops for?

Craft with Aunty Em sessions are designed for children aged 4–11 years. Activities are flexible so younger kids can enjoy them, and older kids can get more detailed with their creations.

Yes — parents or guardians need to remain at the park during the workshop. The sessions are supervised and guided, but children remain the responsibility of their parent/guardian. Many parents use this time to relax nearby with a coffee!

Each workshop includes a mix of around 8 different art and craft activities (from options like rock painting, beading, plaster art, scratch sheets, and more). Every piece your child makes is theirs to take home.

Just a hat, sunscreen, and a water bottle. All craft materials are supplied.

If wet weather is expected, we’ll contact families with an update. Sessions may be rescheduled or relocated to a covered space nearby.

Workshops are kept affordable and accessible. Prices vary depending on the type of session — please check our Bookings page for current details.

Photos may be taken during workshops, but only with prior parental consent. You can opt in (or out) during booking.
